These charming earrings are modeled on spherical rock crystal pendants from the Viking Age, which were found on Gotland / Sweden and date back to the middle of the 11th century.

The historical model of the Viking Age rock crystal pendant comes from Domerarve / Öja on the island of Gotland and is now in the Statens Historiska Museet , Stockholm.

Unlike the original rock crystal models, these Gotlandic ball earrings come with a clear glass ball, which was also a highly prized material during the Viking age as it was very difficult to make.
